The PLTA is governed by formal Bylaws that were revised in September 2024. The PLTA serves the general welfare of its members and furthers its members' common interests with the general public by:

1. Advancing the science of evidencing and insuring title to real property
2. Educating its members through seminars and events
3. Promoting the title insurance industry
4. Encouraging the exchange of ideas
5. Recommending protective or remedial measures
