What is COVID-19?

COVID-19 is a novel coronavirus causing the World Health Organization (WHO) to classify this outbreak as a pandemic on March 11, 2020. Symptoms include fever, cough, and shortness of breath. Anyone experiencing emergency signs such as difficulty breathing, persistent pain or pressure in the chest, new confusion or bluish lips or face should immediately seek medical attention.

What You Should Know

Older adults and people who have severe underlying chronic medical conditions like heart or lung disease or diabetes seem to be at higher risk for developing more serious complications from COVID-19 illness. The virus is thought to spread mainly from person-to-person and the best way to prevent illness is to avoid being exposed to this virus. The CDC urges citizens to monitor your health and practice social distancing. Social distancing means staying out of crowded places, avoiding group gatherings, and maintaining distance (approximately 6 feet) from others when possible.

COVID-19 Licensing Announcements

New Licensees:  The PSI Testing Centers opened again on Friday, June 5th in Pennsylvania, however they are testing currently at 50% capacity.  At this time there is still no online testing option for the State Examination.

License Renewal Extension for CE Requirements:
Pennsylvania Insurance Department is extending the licensing renewal deadline until further notice. While the Insurance Department strongly encourages licensees to renew their licenses by the due date via electronic means such as Sircon and NIPR, as well as take advantage of online CE courses, we understand that at this time, the circumstances related to COVID-19 may prevent some licensees from being able to renew their licenses or complete CE requirements in time. CLE Distance Learning Limitations Removed for 2020:
Supreme Court of Pennsylvania issued a court order temporarily waiving the six (6) hour limitation on distance learning credits for 2020 compliance deadlines. Attorneys in Pennsylvania may now complete all 12 hours of their 2020 CLE requirements though approved distance learning activities.

CLE Compliance Group One Deadline Extension:
The April 30, 2020 compliance deadline for completing CLE requirements has been extended until August 31, 2020. More information visit the PA CLE Board website.
