Keynote Speaker - Richard Bitner
Lessons from the Dark Side:
Understanding the Future of the Housing and Mortgage Markets
By Richard Bitner

Overview

As a recognized expert on the lending and housing markets, and a highly regarded public speaker, Richard provides audience members with a comprehensive and easy to digest presentation on the intricacies of the housing and mortgage crisis. At its core, Lessons from the Dark Side, enables audience members to go behind the scenes and unravel key elements of this crisis, and connect them to the current repercussions affecting the housing, banking, investment and mortgage industries.

His dynamic and high-energy style provides the audience with a captivating look at what caused the crisis, the events shaping the current financial markets, and provides a blueprint for discussing what is in store for the housing market.

What the Audience Will Learn

While his international best-selling book Confessions of a Subprime Lender: An Insider’s Tale of Greed, Fraud & Ignorance, provides an in-depth examination on the crisis, his keynote address goes one step further, enabling audience members to understand the key drivers that will impact the future of the financial markets for years to come.  Audience members who attend his presentation will learn:

  • How investment banks and rating agencies were able to create a process for securitizing mortgages that set off the worst financial crisis since the great depression.
  • How policy making in Washington is impacting the mortgage and housing markets.
  • What factors are most important to monitor to help recognize that a bottom is truly in sight.

About the Speaker

Since the housing and mortgage markets are responsible for impacting 25% of the total Gross Domestic Product of the United States, Richard’s presentation is a must see for any mortgage, housing or financial professional looking to understand this crisis and the implications for them and their clients.

As President of the LTV Group, a communication, design and media company that publishes both HousingWire magazine and REO Insider magazine, Richard has immediate access to the latest industry information. This allows him to continuously update his presentation to reflect any recent market or governmental changes relevant to his audience. In doing so, he ensures audience members will receive the most current and comprehensive analysis available.

Richard has been featured on CNN, Bloomberg, Fox Business News, The Wall Street Journal, NPR, The Early Show, Larry King Live and the Daily Show with Jon Stewart, providing insight on the mortgage debacle. He has a master’s degree in Communications from Cornell University and a bachelor’s degree in Public Relations from Northern Arizona University. His book, Confessions of a Subprime Lender: An Insider’s Tale of Greed, Fraud & Ignorance, was named a Top 10 Business Book of the Year for 2008 by the Chinese publishing industry.
