Minutes of the Lehigh Valley PLTA Chapter Meeting (March 13, 2008)
The Lehigh Valley PLTA Chapter Meeting was held on Thursday, March 13, 2008 at Denny’s Restaurant, Bethlehem, PA.
The meeting was called to order at 8:30am by Phil Janny, President. There were 19 members present, including Chair/President, Phil Janny; Vice President, Sandra Hoch; Secretary, Mary Charon and Treasurer, Kathy Vresics.
An Agenda was followed and led by President, Phil Janny. The following topics were discussed:
The Morning Call “negative” article by Greg Karp on the Title Insurance industry.
City of Allentown ordinance - is it title insurance or not; sub-prime loans
Northampton County recording requirements
General closing instructions new forms proposed by ALTA
PLTA Legislative Day 4-08-08 in Harrisburg .
John Hock discussed establishing a committee re: ABA’s and a seminar in regarding same in September at the Lehigh County Bar Association .
John Hock also discussed the Insurance Dept. Auditing agents in charging correct title premiums and fees. Agents and underwriters will be fined if the Insurance Department determines that certain fees are charged that they feel are not warranted or approved in the rate manual.
May 14, there will be a continuing ed seminar at the Lehigh County Bar Association in Allentown & Regina Lowry from the PA Bankers Assoc. Will be the guest speaker as well as Michael McKeever expert on Short Sales. Andrea Nagle, Lehigh County Clerk of Judicial Records will also attend the seminar.
John Hock & Phil Janny discussed short sales, stressing agents have to make sure they receive a letter from the lender accepting short sale and follow up with the Satisfaction Piece.
PLTI online courses and school classes.
Common Ground magazine, professional designation and Habitat for Humanity projects were discussed.
What else PLTA can do for us as agents?
Lastly, President, Phil Janny, again spoke of the PLTA Convention in Orlando which will be in June of 2008.
The meeting was adjourned by President Phil Janny @ 10:15 am.

Executive Board Meeting
Minutes for May 12, 2008
The meeting was held at 5:00 on Tuesday, May 12, 2008 at LandAmerica in Lancaster.

Nanci bought up issues regarding the breakfast meeting held on April 16th. Attendance was low and a reason for that may have been that flyer did not accurately describe what the meeting was about. The wording may have limited the audience to only people who deal in the commercial real estate market.
Pat Schell gave her report on the board member nominations for the 2008-2009 year. The installation of officers will be held at the social event in June. Pat presented the following slate: Stacey Trimmer, Chair person; Donna Moyer, Vice Chair; Melissa Miller, Secretary; and Jen Dennison, Treasurer.
Nanci handed out a list of the responsibilities for each elected officer and committee person. The list can be revised as the new chairperson deems appropriate.
The flyer for the social will need to be sent out very soon. Nanci will create the flyer and Patti will see to the distribution. The cost will be $20 per person. The event will be held at the Red Rose Restaurant and Lounge in York County from 4:30 to 6:30 pm. Tentative date is Tuesday, June 17th.
There was discussion regarding buying gifts for the speakers. It was decided to continue this, and the amount of the gift will vary depending on how many speakers at any given meeting. We need to look into the rules regarding expiration of gift cards.
There was discussion regarding new locations to hold the breakfast/lunch meetings. There were some unsatisfactory results at several of the past locations. Donna will check into meeting spaces west of York, closer to Gettysburg, Carlisle and Chambersburg.
As there was no further discussion, the meeting was adjourned.
